Judgement...or Not?

The Appraisal

I found myself privy,
Once, to this overt secret,
“A culprit’s being brought to justice”, they hushed,
Hurriedly handing me a leaflet!

I sat in the court
Of oak and cedar; people in yin-yang dressing,
These robes told tales of good in bad,
And of wolves in sheep’s clothing!

The spineless world, bestowed justice,
Judged the accused from a pedestal,
“Summon the murderess!
Committed has she, a crime immoral!

A figure drifted in, clothed in white,
Noiselessly, through the doors,
And calmly climbed the lectern,
Amidst angry uproars!

Pretentious, malicious, cruel, unkind,
They hurled at her such daggers,
Until they gave her time, to justify,
Why she left their lives in shatters!

“I am clothed in white,” she said,
“I possess thus, all shades of life,
Darkened is your mind and heart,
Each, at the other’s throat with a knife!

“I come to the heart, stay in it,
Leave, when the soul does,
Those who’ve felt me truly, know:
Desire for ONLY mirth is destruction’s cause!

To this appraisal of love, I bore witness,
My heart bright with memories of a beloved,
Inevitable it is, to be loved and hurt,
But it is for us to choose, who does!
